NetworldEurope is the new incorporation of the European Technology Platform (ETP) for communications networks and services, the follow-up of NetWorld2020 to follow the European changing policies as stated in Horizon Europe. Communications networks and services enable interaction between users of various types of equipment, either mobile or fixed, to fulfil society’s requirements for interconnection. They are the foundation of the Internet and of our digital society. NetworldEurope ETP gathers players in the communications systems sector: industry leaders, innovative SMEs, and leading academic institutions, thus reaching out to a significant part of the European ICT community.

On 29 October 2013 the new ETP NetWorld2020 was founded by the former Net! Works and ISI ETPs. The launch event took place in Brussels and was attended by 160 participants. In the morning of the day, directly before the launch event, the last GAs of Net! Works and ISI took place, after which both ETPs were closed down. The ETP name has now been changed to “NetworldEurope” on the Steering Board of 9th September 2020 and validated on the General Assembly of 16th November 2020, with the final name chosen by remote voting during December 2020, because of the covid-19 pandemia restrictions. At the same period, the members of the Steering Board of NetworldEurope for the period 2021-22 were elected.
